Graham: Dems’ Reckless Tax and Spend Bill is a Fraud
WASHINGTON – Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today hosted a briefing on the Democrats’ Reckless Tax and Spend bill. Senators heard presentations from the Penn Wharton Budget Model and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB) and participated in a Q&A session.
- GRAHAM: “I want to put a fine point on this…This whole bill is a fraud.” https://youtu.be/YNumeUaZKTw?t=3439
- GRAHAM: “Every Republican on [the Senate Budget] Committee will oppose Build Back Better because we think it does more harm than good. We think it’s an inflation bomb. It will hurt growing the economy rather than help growing the economy. It will expand government at a time when we need to get our fiscal house in order. The American people need to know the truth as we see it, about this proposal.” https://youtu.be/YNumeUaZKTw?t=134
- GRAHAM: “For the average person at home, if these programs [in the Democrats’ bill] don’t go away – which they never do – then the debt that we absorb through passing Build Back Better will be $2.6, $2.7, $2.8 trillion and the actual cost of the bill is in [CRFB’s] view $4.8 trillion and in [Penn Wharton Budget Model’s] view over $4 trillion.” https://youtu.be/YNumeUaZKTw?t=1290
- GRAHAM: “What I want the American people to know, the bill that’s written is not the bill you’re going to pay for. The bill you’re going to pay for is going to be almost 10 times larger than the numbers we’re dealing with here today, because of the game here in Washington.” https://youtu.be/YNumeUaZKTw?t=2691
