Chairman Murray’s Statement on the Nomination of Shaun Donovan as OMB Director

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan’s nomination to become the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

“President Obama has made a great decision in nominating Shaun Donovan to lead the Office of Management and Budget.  As Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Donovan has been a strong manager, taking on challenges like overseeing the government’s response to Hurricane Sandy and working to stabilize the housing market. Secretary Donovan has excelled in his current position, and his proven leadership and experience make him a terrific choice to lead the OMB.

“I have worked closely with Secretary Donovan on housing issues and I know he understands the challenges facing middle class families and our economy. I look forward to hearing more from him about how he would continue Director Burwell’s work to create broad-based economic growth and tackle our long-term budget challenges in a fair, responsible and bipartisan way when he appears before the Budget Committee.”
