“There is not much to like in this budget. It increases spending, increases taxes, increases deficits, and never balances. While the President is touting deficit reduction in the long term, his plan would raise spending by $160 billion next year, and increase the deficit by $128 billion. This budget takes us in the wrong direction."

Increased spending, higher taxes and ignored entitlement reform
“Americans are frustrated, and I share that frustration. Businesses, families and even the state of Idaho balance their budgets. The federal government should do the same. This proposed budget did not even come close. Congress cannot continue to kick the can down the road—time is running out. Washington must stop growing the size of government and start putting policies in place that encourage job growth and economic sustainability.”
Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa today made the following comment on the President’s nomination of Jacob Lew as Treasury secretary. Grassley is a senior member and former chairman and ranking member of the Finance Committee, which will consider the nomination.

The Senate Budget Committee passed a budget tonight. Unfortunately, it’s not balanced and increases taxes. I voted against it.
