Senate Budget Committee Votes to Advance Mulvaney as Director of OMB

Nomination Moves to Full Senate For Consideration

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Senate Budget Committee today approved Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) to lead the White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Mulvaney’s nomination will now move to the full Senate for consideration.

“We need an OMB director in place with so many pressing budgetary issues requiring the attention of the new Administration,” said Chairman Enzi.  “Foremost among these is the staggering $20 trillion debt burden America now shoulders.  Congress needs an OMB director we can work with to put America on a more responsible fiscal path. Rep. Mulvaney has been focused on how we ultimately stop the federal government from overspending, while continuing to fund the country’s core priorities and responsibilities.  I look forward to his prominent voice arguing for fiscal restraint, balanced budgets and honest budgeting.”
